We are seeking your feedback on how you travel and why you make the travel choices that you do for a range of different journeys.

This is for our transport plan, which is called the LTP (Local Transport Plan) and this will be the 5^th one the Council has produced. It sets out our transport policies about buses, walking, cycling, scooting and driving for the next few years, and must respond to our climate and health challenges while at the same time supporting the growth of the city.

This survey focuses on the journeys that you make now, and what makes you choose to travel the way that you do. Later on this year (in the summer), we’ll be asking you about what you think of our roads, buses, trains and Redways and also what the Council could do to make you travel a bit differently – like cheaper bus tickets, scooter hire - or maybe some free cycle training or even a free bike!  So, look out for the later surveys after this one!

This survey will give us a clear picture before we start to develop a new transport plan for Milton Keynes, which we hope to have ready for the start of 2025.

MK City Council is making it easier for people to switch to electric vehicles by increasing the number of residential electric vehicle chargers. These chargers are intended for residential overnight charging so a vehicle is likely to be plugged into a charger for at least 8 hours at a time. At the moment the parking bays for these chargers are not enforced so can be used by any type of vehicle, either electric or combustion engine.

It has been over a year since we asked the local communities if they would like the Electric Vehicle (EV) bays in their neighbourhood to be enforced as “EV Only” bays and as part of our commitment to monitoring opinion on this, we feel now, with the launch of our EV Transport survey and the start of more residential charger installs, is a good time to ask for feedback again.

The consultation asks for opinion on specific named roads so that our citizens and Councillors can respond to just the roads that interest them. The options on offer for enforcing the EV parking bays will be :

1. Enforce all EV bays in named road

2. Enforce 50% of EV bays in named road

3. Enforce 1 bay in named road

4. Do not enforce any bays in named road

MKCC is running a survey on Commonplace which we are looking for you to help shape our future Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Strategy! Although the term is often mostly used to mean cars, there are other forms of electric vehicles. These include cars, bikes, scooters, and other modes of transport.

You will find on this webpage a variety of questions about different electric vehicles, why you use them, and how MKCC can improve your experiences whilst travelling in Milton Keynes.

These surveys are open to all and every resident, but also those who travel into the city often. The survey goes live on the 6th September and will be running for 6 months until March 2024!
